My Cultural Inside Out is a community activity that prompts participants to reflect upon their cultural heritage connected to food and paint a cork coaster with a specific food, recipe or person associated with that. The participants then share the artwork with their peers to ensure empathy and mutual learning. The goal was to foster intergenerational knowledge-sharing around food culture and promote home cooking.
This exercise took place at United Community Centers in East New York and was a part of their annual intergenerational breakfast.
